“Here was Leonard Cohen, willfully walking in the shadows, yet still, it seemed to me, enjoying his life very much. In the work, he wielded the darkness. It did not consume him.”
Another excellent post, my friend! Beautifully written. It made me want to busy out my LC playlist. I saw Leonard on that last tour at Barclays in Brooklyn, and actually had to leave before he finished because it was like 11:45 on a school night and his set was only half done. His stamina as a performer and his dedication to his artistry serves as a floodlight for us all. And your post is a prime example of how to write lovingly about your heroes. Thank you!
My cup runneth over. Thank you, my friend. Yes, those last couple of tours were the best advertisements for meditation I’ve ever seen. Apparently, that late in life retreat to Mt Baldy did more good for LC than any drugs or alcohol ever could. GO FIGURE.
Wow. I was never a Leonard Cohen fan
until you opened him up for me.
Now his lyrics in his own voice give me chills.
Thank you Robert.
You’re welcome! And thanks for the wordsmith DNA.
This is so, so good. Impressive writing.

And I was at that show at MSG.
Thank you. I know you know all about that.
“In the work, he wielded the darkness. It did not consume him.” ❤️
