What a beautiful piece! Thank you so much for sharing it. You brought me to tears sitting at the counter of a busy breakfast restaurant. Not easy to do!
For me, more than anything else, Covid vividly illuminated how important to the human spirit shared emotional experiences like you describe here are.
this is so well-written, and not to take one thing away, ha ha, but i always considered the NGDB version of Bojangles to be the "happy" one, ha ha ha. just think if you had gone to see jerry jeff!! the music lives on.
oh yeah - i went to see jerry jeff in new orleans (recorded on the album A Man Must Carry On), and was weeping like your 8 yr old self - but i was 15!!
I heard that song a few months after my best friend died (Shwaggy, my dog) and I cried uncontrollably, but it felt good. Great story 🙂
Thank you. It does feel good.
This was beautiful, Robert. I still have my bucket, too
Thank you, Chuck. So great to hear from you. Long may you run, my friend.

Thank you, home skillet. I agree JJW would likely have sent my little brain ‘round the bend!
